Day 4

Today I woke up with a pleasant thought of finally eating normal food (Cereal) for breakfast!
I slept for good 9 hours but somehow woke up an hour earlier... :(
The day before we bought instant coffee and that was the thing that brought me back to life this morning.
Breakfast was very fast today as everybody had cereal which seemed like gourmet food after the breakfast earlier.
As we arrived at the building site we recognized some of the familiar faces of little Vietnamese children. We started the day by making a chain and passing the bricks as we have been doing for past couple of days. That was a good start of the day and got us sweating like crazy.
The rest of the day we continued with doing the same stuff for a long time, digging the sand/mud/clay stuff to make the foundation of the house. It was very hard work and we (me, jack and meng) managed to finish more than 1/3 of the foundation which made us very proud. The little kids helped us a lot. I gave the kids a couple of rides in the wheel barrow and they seemed to really enjoy it. By the end of the day the children have learned a couple of english and even russian words. They were jumping on us and we would carry them ) We could barely walk at 3 o clock and now as im am writing this every muscle of my body is aching. So far I really enjoy the trip and i think it is a very good thing we are doing.
Dinner time (raining)....

Day 4- life in vietnam

Life in Vietnam

The time flew and today was already the third day to go to the working site. Now we all seemed very close to the local people and they welcomed us like we are their family. The main tasks we have carried on were to continuation of painting the doors and pounding the ground. We were now almost pro in painting because we were pretty experienced from yesterday’s hard work today. Basically, the process of pounding was easy, to flatten the ground up the wall level, but I had to put an extreme effort under the sizzling weather. It was definitely a tough task for me and I could imagine how hard this would be for the people who do this work for their lives.

DAY 4 - WAKING UP

I woke up to hell today… I was so sore, yet felt so good about myself, and I could easily notice the extreme growth in my biceps and triceps after yesterdays workout. Anyway, I woke up to Karl stroking my hair, which I must say was quite a delightful wake up call. Then suddenly the thought of repeating yesterday again today spawned my mind and I went back to sleep! 5 minutes later, my roommate Alex threw a pillow right in my face and I was up! I went to the toilet and totally forgot about the CHOCOLATE ice-cream Tait had tried to flush down our toilet the night before, my roommate went to flush the lumps of brown ice-cream down the toilet. Anyway, we got dressed and went to the build site, this time we didn’t get lost… dam. As we got there, we started working, sore from yesterday and just the thought about how sore we’re going to be later today made us have out first break. That’s how the day was the rest of the day, we worked really hard, had good laughs, and most of had fun and helped others.
I’m going to sleep like a baby tonight! ;)

Day 4 - Philip

Day 4

Today i thought god woke me up as from yesterdays work out i thought i died, but it was only Tait... damn. The thought of repeating yesterday sent shivers down my legs... and Taits. The morning shower ended up in being the counting session on the number of rats on my roof. I must say great, awesome, exiting start of the day!
Anyway, today we successfully arrived at the building site without getting lost which i must say was a disadvantage as i meant one hour less sleep.
The building was exiting as we watched Gaurav and Finlay shoveling dirt and showing of their biceps.
We ended our day by making Vietnam 2009 MTV Crib movie which we will put up a bit later as it is not working right now.
Now it is time for dinner and it is raining.
